Photo by Doug Lowe. In order to explore and to rediscover the use of colour to express mood, agedness or youth, I needed to paint a variety of subjects young and old.

The delightful photo of Nina was a good subject for this painting. The soft colours are my impression of her babyhood and the colours in her personality at the time when she was in a calm, relaxed mood.
