When I painted this picture of a pensive, vital Maxine with the colours expressing her mood very well, I was satisfied. Until then I was not getting the colour chemistry right. Maxine had been recovering slowly from a series of illnesses. She has a haunted look touched with sadness. She has thankfully made a full recovery. |

| Although I was communicating well with the subjects, I was still rediscovering the colour language which I was using when I gave up 31 years before. Its re-emergence, linked to realistic forms was my new goal and I was achieving it. | ||
