Photo by Doug Lowe. Like 2.08, I was finding my way . How to express the character through form and colour. How representational must I go. How to use the colours, to break up the features. I was finding that getting the eyes and mouth right were critical to the overall success of the picture.

I have to leave the detail in the eyes and mouth to the end. I find this to be the case in every picture that I have painted. If I try to finish eyes or mouth before the rest of the picture, I always end up changing their colours and general appearance.
